Still have a question?

I’m happy to talk anything through before you decide. There’s no pressure at all.

About Havening

Havening Techniques® is a gentle, psychosensory approach to wellbeing. It uses soothing touch alongside focused attention to help calm the nervous system, so the emotional weight around difficult experiences can begin to settle. The name says it all, it’s about helping you find a safe haven within.

No. Havening is not hypnosis. You stay alert, aware and fully in control throughout the entire session. It simply helps your mind and body feel calm and safe.

During a session you’ll use gentle Havening touch, soothing strokes on the arms, hands and face while we guide your attention. This calming sensory input is thought to help the brain settle its stress response, so distressing feelings gradually lose their intensity. It’s gentle, and nothing is forced.

Not if you don’t want to. Many sessions are worked completely content-free, which means change can happen without you reliving or explaining difficult memories. We always work in whatever way feels safest for you.

Havening is gentle and you remain in control at all times. It’s suitable for most people as a complementary wellbeing approach. It isn’t a substitute for medical or psychological treatment, so if you’re under the care of a professional, it’s always worth letting them know.

Your sessions

Sessions usually last between 60 and 90 minutes. There’s never any rush, we take the time you need to feel settled and supported.

Both. I work online with people right across the globe, and in person locally. Whatever feels more comfortable for you is the right choice.

We start by helping you feel calm and grounded, then I’ll guide you through simple self-Havening using your own hands. From there we gently explore whatever you’d like to work on at your pace, content-free if you prefer and you’ll leave with techniques you can use any time.

Everyone is different, and we’ll talk it through on your discovery call. Many people find two sessions a good place to begin, with a third available if it’s helpful. You can see the options on the pricing page.

That’s completely okay and entirely normal. The whole approach is built around helping you feel safe, and we only ever move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Yes. Havening is gentle and suitable for children and teenagers as well as adults. For under-18s, sessions are arranged together with a parent or guardian.

Just a quiet, private space where you won’t be disturbed, a device with a camera, and a reasonably steady internet connection. Everything else, I’ll guide you through.
